Sowing
Sow undercover from February, or outdoors directly between April and June.
Harvest
Harvest between August and October, when the head is 10-15cm and before any flowers open.
Further, smaller heads can grow. These can be harvested over the following weeks.
Protection
Cabbages need fine mesh netting to protect against cabbage butterflies and pigeons.
A brassica collar around the base helps protect against cabbage root fly.
Larger plants may need a supporting with a cane
